Week Beginning 26 March 2018


  • Year 6 Residential Trip to Lin’An.  This is taking place on the week of the 16 to 20 April.
  • International week:  On Monday 26 March at 8.25am you are invited to join us for International Week singing in the Primary playground.  On Thursday 29 March at 9:00am the International Parade will take place in the Primary front playground. Students are invited to wear clothing that represents their cultural heritage. If you are able, please come dressed in your national costume and cheer on. Our Chatterbox coffee shop will be open for parents to enjoy a beverage or snack.


This week we will be concluding our learning about the story of Macbeth.  The children will create a news report about the story, and then record it on their iPads.  We will also do our weekly spelling test.

This week we will be doing international themed maths.  There will be lots of puzzles and problems for the children to solve.  There will also be our weekly mental maths test.

This week we will conclude our learning about evolution.  The children will explore variation in animals, and also look at the work of the famous naturalist: Charles Darwin.

This term our new PSHCE / well-being program will continue.  The value covered will be compassion.  This is the ability to empathise with others, and learn about love, integrity, friendship and forgiveness. This week will have a key focus on families.

We zijn inmiddels gestart met het thema ‘Wetenschap en Techniek’. We doen proefjes, schrijven onze voorspellingen op papier en doen onderzoek naar de achtergronden. Volgende week staan constructies centraal. Hoe kan het dat een brug niet inzakt in het midden, hoe kan het dat wolkenkrabbers niet omvallen en hoe maak je twee verschillende materialen aan elkaar vast? We gaan het allemaal ontdekken en we maken notitites van onze bevindingen. Ook gaan we aan de slag met werkbeschrijvingen en werktekeningen.

Groep 4: au-plaat/ klankgroepenwoorden met lange klank aan het eind/ lidwoorden en zelfstandig naamwoorden

Groep 5:luchtwoorden (pech, lach)/ politiewoorden (eindigen op –tie)/ voltooid deelwoorden en hulpwerkwoorden

Groep 6: extra aandacht voor kilowoorden (je hoort /ie en je schrijft i, bijv. materiaal)/routewoorden (route, journaal: ik hoor een oe maar schrijf een ou) en kommawoorden.

Groep 7: extra aandacht voor tremawoorden/voegwoorden en het lijdend voorwerp.

Groep 8: herhaling van voorgaande categorieen.

This week`s homework will be editing and uploading your conversation in the French café on the Seesaw app. 

Next week we will look into the French and Belgium tradition of April Fool`s Day.  We will look at some typical jokes people play on April 1st and will make up our own `Poissons d`Avril`.  Oh di da di da…. Homework: The students need to use A4 paper and draw or print a picture with any of the imperative verbs to be used during the cooking activity.

Students will learn to use the imperative form by following a recipe to bake oatmeal cookies. We will go to the kitchen to practise the new vocabulary.
