iv Focus on learning not doing

When a lesson confuses learning with doing, student progress is inhibited. 

  • KS3 Class

Adding a simple change in the lesson can ensure that the focus is on learning and not doing. Once a student has grasped a new concept or method, continued learning requires them to embed the concept by using the skill or method in a different form and then applying their understanding of that skill in different and unfamiliar contexts (P E² A). The teacher is able to ensure that the students continue to learn rather than simply continue to practise a skill that is already acquired.
