Joseph started his career, as a mathematics and ICT teacher, in a comprehensive school in Doncaster before moving into grammar and then independent boarding schools in the U.K. He has held a variety of middle and senior leadership positions which have included pastoral, academic and whole school remits. Before leaving the U.K. Joseph worked as an advanced skills teacher focusing on supporting colleagues to develop outstanding lessons. His international experience has been teaching in two countries in the Middle East and now for a second time to BISS.
As well as teaching Joseph has a number of interests including computer programming and adventurous sports. He developed educational games in the early days of interactive whiteboards and has more recently been creating timetabling software. His hobbies have also included racing and instructing in gliders with his most notable flights being a 10 hour 543km trip across Wales as well as a flight around Mt Cook in New Zealand. He has also enjoyed other activities including flying paragliders and microlights, sailing small boats and wake boarding. During his first stay in China he completed the Shanghai Marathon and also spent time learning to ski in Korea and then Japan. In the Middle East he experienced visiting the mangroves in his jet boat, driving across the desert in a Land Rover and trying not to crash a drone.
Joseph is enjoying the variety of his new role at BISS where he can be seen directing traffic in the morning, supporting the EYFS team during the day, arranging cover for absent colleagues in evening, getting in the way during production rehearsals at the weekend and timetabling in the holidays. His personal goal for the next few years is to learn the piano to a standard where he is able to play during Reception singing lessons.
