After completing her PGDE in Primary education at Edinburgh University, she spent 6 successful years working in state schools around Edinburgh, taking on such roles as Literacy Leader for Fife Council and ICT coordinator.
Keen to return to international education and immerse herself in different and interesting cultures, she moved to the British International School of Moscow in 2013, where she worked for 3 years developing herself both professionally and personally. Highlights of this time include introducing a more cross-curricular approach to teaching and learning across the school and becoming a mentor to two newly qualified teachers, while also taking a seat on the Senior Management team.
Claire took the decision to move to BISS Puxi as she was keen to continue to her international career and wanted to work for an outstanding school, in a modern and vibrant city. She is excited to join the team.
Claire has always been an adventurous person enjoying new challenges and learning about the world around her. One of her greatest challenges was plunging into freezing cold water in aid of helping the homeless in Moscow, in temperatures of minus 17. She has been privileged enough to travel to many countries across Europe, the Americas and Asia, all of which contributed to and supported her desire to work abroad.
Other interests include hiking in the Monroes of Scotland with family and friends, camping overnight around the sides of a Loch and enjoying water sports - in the right temperatures of course. Claire is hoping to improve her language skills in Shanghai, and add Mandarin to her repertoire which already includes Russian and Korean.
