  • Geri Reid

    Geri Reid

    Business and Economics Teacher

    Geri Reid

Geri graduated from the University of Southampton with a PGCE and went on to teach in an outstanding school in Southampton, UK.  It was there where she developed her passion for teaching Business Studies as well as teaching ICT. Here she was professionally encouraged and challenged to develop her own pedagogy and gain experience in teaching, learning and developing resources.  Geri was Head of Department for Business and ICT for many years with a clear focus on using data to ensure that no child was left behind.  As a teacher, she strives to innovate and transform the learning of students through feedback, student reflection and evaluation. She prides herself on getting to know her students well so that their individual needs are met.

More recently, Geri has been working in Borneo as an International Coach supporting local teachers with their teaching and learning and training existing teachers to become coaches in secondary schools across the country.  She played a significant role in influencing change to current pedagogical practice.  This involved working at a high level with Government Ministers of Education, Principals and Heads of Department across a number of schools. The project focused on planning and structuring lessons, increasing student talk in the classroom, task design, differentiation and assessment for learning.   This was a really exciting opportunity and experience where Geri was able to work internationally with other teachers from across the world where they co-created resources and worked collaboratively to raise standards in education.  This role allowed Geri to become reflective about her own practice and she was eager to take back control of her own classroom after the project finished.  Geri wanted a completely different experience from Borneo, so she seized the opportunity to teach in Shanghai and is extremely excited about the next steps in her professional career at BISS Puxi.
