Alexandra North

Alexandra North

Secondary English Teacher

Alexandra graduated from Brighton University, UK in 2008, gaining a 2:1 BA Hons in English Language and English Literature. She then attended Middlesex University, UK to complete her PGCE. Alexandra believes that teachers should be facilitators to learning and as such encourages independent and peer-to-peer working to help develop students’ enquiry and independent working skills. She is passionate about helping her students to develop into rounded, inquisitive and confident young adults.

After working for seven years in two comprehensive schools, Alexandra felt the time was right to take her career in a new and exciting direction. The opportunity to work in a stimulating and successful school such as BISS Puxi as well as working in a vibrant, cosmopolitan city such as Shanghai was the job opportunity she had been looking for.

A big fan of team sports, Alexandra is a keen netball player and has played for 17 years. She is excited by the prospect of being able to immerse herself in a new way of life and by being able to travel and see different parts of the world. She enjoys music, film and reading, especially literature that gives her an insight into different cultures.

Alexandra is moving over to Shanghai with her husband, Jack. Together they are looking forward to exploring everything that Shanghai has to offer.
