Katherine received a BSc in Business Management and after graduating, worked for Nestle throughout the North of England. In 1999, Katherine decided it was time to pursue her dream of becoming a teacher and attained her PGCE in Secondary Business Studies and Economics from Manchester University, UK, in June 2000. She took her first post at Sale Grammar School, Manchester, followed by Teesside High School in 2005, which delivers an exceptional education for 3-18 year olds. Katherine was the Head of Business Studies and Economics for twelve happy years.
Katherine enjoyed the community and family feel of Teesside High School and was attracted to BISS Puxi because it offers a very similar environment that is welcoming to her family and offers endless opportunities to get involved in the life of the school. Katherine’s teaching philosophy is student focused. She believes that with the right attitude and support, there is no limit to what can be achieved. She believes that education is a team event with the teacher working in harmony with the student and the family.
Katherine lives and works in Shanghai with her husband Phil, also a teacher, and her young son, William. She has enjoyed travelling in South East Asia in the past and is now excited about exploring China and beyond in her spare time.
