Rebecca Symonds
BA (Hons), PGCE, MBA
Rebecca gained an MBA (Marketing) in 2000 at Liverpool University. After working in recruitment and marketing for several years, she gained her PGCE in 2006. Her first teaching post was in a business and enterprise college in Liverpool, followed by an international post in Cairo, Egypt. Rebecca taught at BISS for five years from 2012 to 2017 and is delighted to be back after two years in the UK.
Rebecca aims to ensure that her students learn in a positive learning environment. She believes it is essential that all students are encouraged to celebrate their achievements and she hopes to give students the ability to become independent, confident learners. Rebecca believes that it is also essential to prepare students to function effectively as members of their society and individual communities. Her goal is to become a reflective practitioner and she aims to develop her skills as a teacher alongside those of her students.
Rebecca lives and works in Shanghai with her husband who is also a teacher at BISS. She is looking forward to further travel in China and other areas of Asia. She enjoys the vibrant and cosmopolitan feel of Shanghai, and at the weekend, she particularly loves spending time walking around the tree-lined streets of the former French Concession.
