Phoebe graduated from Shanghai International Studies University, where she achieved the Certificate of Advanced Interpretation as well as the Teacher’s Certificate. Phoebe worked as a full time teacher of English and Mandarin in other bilingual and international schools before joining BISS.
Phoebe has worked at the British International School Shanghai, Puxi since 2011 and has led the primary Mandarin since 2019. As the head of primary Mandarin, Phoebe and her team oversees curriculum for both native Chinese heritage speakers and non-native Chinese speakers to facilitate students from different cultural background to appreciate and benefit from the profound culture of Chinese language and literature.
Phoebe very much enjoys teaching Mandarin and is particularly relishes the prospect of leading the Primary Mandarin department. What she enjoys the most is having conversations with her students in Mandarin, and seeing them develop their language skills. Phoebe has always had a passion for learning foreign languages, which then led to her interest in language learning and teaching.
Away from the classroom, Phoebe likes to relax with her family (ideally on a beach) whenever time allows. Finding a balance between her busy life and relaxation, gives her the opportunity to embrace each day with pleasure.
