After completing secondary school, Elsbeth completed her introductory exam in Social Work in Leeuwarden, the Netherlands. For one year, she worked as a social worker in a school for children with mental health problems. Subsequently, she studied Theology in Leuven (Belgium) for four years but decided that, although it was a very interesting topic, her future was not in theology. Elsbeth then moved to Amsterdam and after working for some time, she decided that she wanted to become a Dutch Teacher. She pursued her Bachelor of Dutch Education Degree whilst working at a school for children with special needs. She then went on to teach at Damstede Lyceum, a multicultural school in Amsterdam.
Elsbeth loves to empower students by teaching them how to express themselves in speech and writing. She enjoys having conversations and discussions with them about events that are going on in the world and in their lives. She also enjoys reading and discussing literature with her students. She finds it motivating and fulfilling to work in an enviroment with such a diversity amongst students and staff. Besides teaching and mentoring, Elsbeth likes to be involved in different projects including poetry, reading and language improvement.
In her free time, Elsbeth loves to read, cook and to invite friends over for diner or to discover new restaurants. She also likes to explore her surroundings, mostly on foot or by bicycle. During holidays, she tries to visit friends that live abroad or to travel to some new places.
