    Natasha Manley

    BSc (Hons) PGCE

    Natasha joined BISS Puxi in August 2017 and is the Head of Primary PE. She is also the founding manager of the BISS Lions School of Dance.  She has been teaching for many years, following completion of her Physical Education and Religious Studies (Hons) Degree from Bangor University, UK, in 2011. She completed a Post Graduate Certificate in Education in Physical Education in 2012.

    Neil Bewley

    Neil is the Head of Secondary PE, having joined BISS Puxi in August 2018. He started his teaching career in 2002 at The English Martyrs School and Sixth Form College in Hartlepool, where he gained experience as a teacher of Physical Education and Head of Year. In 2006, he and his wife Elizabeth, who also teaches in the Primary School at BISS, moved to Shanghai to work.

    M.Ed, B.Ed (Hons)

    Thomas has been at BISS Puxi since 2010 and is the founding manager of the BISCAP programme. He has had many roles in his eighteen years of teaching which started in Manchester as a school Sports Coordinator. It was for his excellent results in this role that he won the prestigious ‘Innovations in Sport’ award for raising attendance at extracurricular activities in deprived parts of the city.

    Mário Castro

    Mário is a Physical Education (PE) Teacher, who was born and raised in Portugal. In 2005 he achieved his Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education and Sports, and then, went on to complete his PG in Sport Management in 2007, and in 2009, completed his PG ICT. In 2012, Mário successfully completed a Master’s Degree in PE Education. He began his teaching career in Portugal in 2006, at the same time as working as a professional football coach in the second and third Portuguese divisions. The team with which he worked had great success as national champions of the second division in 2007/2008 and 2010/2011. Mário continued as a coach until 2016, when he made the move to China to be a Director of Football and Head Coach with a number of clubs including Figo Football Academy, Toulouse Football Club, Ebbe Sand Academy and lastly, Borussia Mönchengladbach. Mário’s aim was to help develop football in China.

    Cari Lloyd

    Cari was educated in Anglesey, North Wales, through the medium of Welsh. During her time at school she volunteered at her local club as a swimming and gymnastics coach. This keen interest in coaching young swimmers and gymnasts motivated her to attend Cardiff Metropolitan University in 2013-2016 to study Sport and Physical Education (BsC Hons). At university, Cari  performed and competed  in water polo, cheerleading and field hockey before pursuing her passion for teaching  and completing a PGCE at Loughborough University in 2017. Cari’s has a strong background working with international students after working at Whitgift Summer School, London and Camp Adventure, Germany. Her first teaching post was teaching middle school PE at an IB school in Sotogrande, Spain. Cari then moved to Hangzhou in 2018 as a founding member of the PE department at RDFZ King’s College and developed her abiliy to teach bilingual students across a range of Key Stages.

    Carli Chapman

    Carli attended the University of Teeside where she completed a BSc in Sport and Exercise Science. After finishing her degree, she started work as a teacher of A Level Physical Education, BTEC Sport and Public Services at Middlesbrough College, gaining valuable experience. The following year, Carli worked at English Martyrs School where she gained her QTS. Early on in her career, she had responsibility within both the academic and the pastoral side of education after taking on the role of Deputy Head of Year, whilst being responsible for the delivery and implementation of A Level Physical Education. In 2011, her pathway changed slightly as she became Second in Department, and then, Head of Department in 2018.

    High Performance Olympic Gold Coach

    Marlon Devonish

    Marlon was a professional sprinter for Great Britain for over twenty years. He competed in the 100m, 200m and 4 x 100m relay and is Britain’s most decorated male athlete with eighteen medals. He is best known for being one of the four athletes who won gold in the 100m relay at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens. Marlon was recognised for his success with his fellow team mates and was awarded an MBE. Furthermore, he has honorary degrees from both Coventry and Warwick Universities for his dedication and successes in sport.

    Catherine Lambert

    PE Teacher

    Catherine Lambert

    Catherine gained her BSc (Hons) in Geography from Exeter University before completing her PGCE in Secondary Geography at Birmingham University in 2006. She then combined this with her love of sport, teaching both subjects at a secondary school in Buckinghamshire. She taught a variety of individual sports as well as coaching hockey, netball and rounders teams from Year 7 to Year 13. Catherine has lived in Switzerland, Beijing and Shanghai and, as her family has grown over the years, she has worked with students across all age groups from Pre-Nursery to IB, and in a variety of different settings and roles. Catherine has been part of the BISS community for over 5 years and thoroughly enjoys being part of such a dynamic, motivational and inspirational PE department.
