What a wonderful turn out for our annual Winter Concert on Wednesday evening. The brass ensemble, greeting guests in the foyer as they arrived for the evening’s entertainment, really helped set the scene for a fun night out. Our Juilliard School collaboration promotes ambition, creativity and inclusion.
With this in mind, I must congratulation Ms. Rae, Mr. Scott and Ms. Huyen for creating such an amazingly varied programme which celebrated our students’ achievements at their varying levels of expertise.
The concert opened with an original composition from one of our very talented pianists, Bao. The audience were then treated to lively dance moves from our primary dance troupe, TT. Quartets, duets and two further solo performances by Jae Eun on the violin and Tuong Vy on the guitar, followed. The Primary Band, ECA Choir, Jazz Band and Year 7 Mash up showed the fun side of entertaining together and the duet from Ana Clara and Jess led us beautifully to the final performance of the evening. The BIS Choir really confirmed their reputation as being one of the most accomplished we have ever had. The harmonies surpassed all expectations and they really captivated the audience with a rendition of ‘Somewhere Only We Know’.
During the interval, Mr. Westropp took up his position on the stage to conduct the final auction of paintings for our Tanzania Community Project. The proceeds of the sale of goods on entrance to the Auditorium and the refreshments also contributed to the fund raising and I can now reveal the total amount raised…a staggering 93 million VND! Thank you so much to our very thoughtful and kind BIS community for all their generosity.
