An air of excitement in BIS Hanoi Performing Arts Department

Mr. Paul Murphy, our curriculum specialist from Juilliard, spent two days at British International School Hanoi this week. Paul taught a number of classes across both Primary and Secondary

The students really valued their time with him and have accredited his ability to make them feel safe and have fun while learning deeply. Paul is an extremely inspiring educator for both students and staff. During his time here, he also led a session to our IB Music students focusing on Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto, one of their prescribed works. His personal experiences and connection to this music created the foundation for a deep and meaningful lesson which is invaluable to our learners.

Paul provided continuous Professional Development for the Performing Arts team as well as some members of staff from other subject areas focusing on the importance of creativity in education as a means to best preparing our students for life after British International School Hanoi. There is an air of excitement in the Performing Arts Department due to our aspirations for driving forward, creating stronger and better opportunities for our students as well as pushing for deeper and more organic learning. Paul’s visit has added to this. Paul was extremely happy with the progress and vision of the department. It was a lovely, inspirational and beneficial two days.
