BIS Hanoi teacher published in NAE’s Global Connect-ed magazine

BIS Hanoi is delighted to celebrate an exciting professional milestone for Mr. Lewis, our EAL teacher and NAE Teaching Fellow, who has been published in the latest edition of NAE’s Connect-ed #94 – Pedagogy & Innovation. His article, “Bridging the Icebergs: Translanguaging in the Classroom,” appears as one of the feature pieces in this edition’s focus on innovative teaching.

In his article, Mr. Lewis breaks down how translanguaging can be brought to life in a multilingual classroom, sharing practical strategies that help students use all of their language skills to support learning. By connecting theory to everyday classroom practice, he offers an approachable and meaningful guide for teachers across the Nord Anglia network—one grounded in real student experiences and outcomes.

The NAE editorial team praised Mr. Lewis for his willingness to share best practice across the organisation, noting that his insights will be valuable to educators around the world who are looking to deepen their understanding of inclusive language approaches.

Reflecting on the publication, Mr. Lewis said he is delighted to see his work featured and is proud that the edition also highlights two practical training courses he has developed to support teachers in using translanguaging strategies confidently and effectively.
