Chuc Mung Nam Moi – Happy New Year to you all.

It was lovely to welcome the students back to school this week, it seems like everyone had a relaxing break and is full of energy for the new term. Teachers and Students alike were looking refreshed and forward to the exciting new topics ahead.

We also welcomed new students this term, who have joined classes across the Primary phase. Nervous faces soon disappeared as children have made friends and are already settling into life at BIS. In Early Years Ms. Isabelle has returned as our new F1/2 teacher and Ms. Natalie has moved from Learning Support back into the Primary classroom in Y1.

Our curriculum statements for Term 2 have been sent today. These statements explain in more detail the coverage of skills and knowledge that will take place over the next term for all subjects. Please don’t hesitate to contact me or your child’s class teacher if you have any questions or would like to know more about the curriculum in your child’s year group.

Poppy Perseverance is our superhero for this half term. The essence of this attribute is not giving up and even when things get hard, to keep trying. I know this can be a challenge for all of us sometimes; gentle encouragement and praise to help to keep us going and never give up.

Global Citizen Assembly

Ms. Molly and her team launched our Global Citizen character to students and parents today in assembly. Mr. G.C. is teaching the students how to demonstrate balance in their life, be adaptable, celebrate diversity, think critically and take action. Students are going to have half-termly challenges that they can complete in school and at home to demonstrate these characteristics. During the workshop, parents had the opportunity to upload ‘evidence’ onto the Global Citizen area of our class blogs. More Information will be sent to all parents with guidance on how to do this and it was lovely to see so many of you here this afternoon.

Wishing you all a lovely weekend,

Mrs Rebecca Carrol
