Year 7 have arrived safely in La Ferme du Colvert, an eco-friendly nature resort nestled within private gardens and surrounded by mountains and rivers in Luong Son, Hoa Binh today.

Day 1 (December 4):

Wow......what a great first day! We arrived at our amazing resort and it’s incredibly beautiful. The weather is also lovely and warm! Upon arrival, we checked into our rooms and had a tour of the resort. The cooking activity was really fun, where we made breadsticks and a traditional caramel dessert. The farm tour was really interesting where we picked tea leaves and saw the working farm that supplies our resort. It’s been really hot so the swimming pool party activity was very popular. We’ve also been playing tag games, which has really helped the students to develop skills such as teamwork and communication. In the evening we are listening to traditional stories and taking part in a quiz with the teachers. Everyone is having lots of fun and we can’t wait for tomorrow!

Day 2 (December 5):

Another incredible day here at La Ferme De Colvert. We began our day with a lovely breakfast of yummy pancakes and then had some time to prepare for a full day of action. Our groups were split in half where 2 groups started the rafting challenge and the other groups completed a riverside trek with camp craft and team games. The weather has been superb and we’ve all had fantastic fun.

The rafting challenge was epic! We spent lots of time planning, designing and then building our rafts. Each group member had a different responsibility in their teams of 7. The roles were engineers, designers, and knot tying experts. The staff were incredibly impressed with their teamwork, communication, and building skills. The raft race was fantastic and the winners will be announced when the second half of the group complete their time trial race tomorrow.

The river hike activity was a great way to see a bit of the beautiful countryside around which the farm is situated. Making their way through some local villages, our students trekked up to a scenic spot by the river. A picnic lunch was perfect to recharge our energy for the afternoon’s activities. Students learned to communicate and negotiate with each other by putting up their own tents, as well as taking part in a number of exciting team games. Again the focus was to build positive relationships within each tutor group, especially with those who don’t often have a chance to talk to one another.

Overall, a fabulously tiring day, making memories. Tonight we will be celebrating Aarini’s birthday! Bring on tomorrow!

Day 3 (December 6):

It’s been a fantastic final day! The teams swapped and did the activities that they didn’t do yesterday. Great fun was had raft building, trekking, camp craft activities, team games and swimming in the resort pool. The weather was beautiful and very hot today.

Tonight we are having an awards evening and celebratory disco. All week staff have been watching very carefully and taking note of students who have demonstrated excellent communication, teamwork, leadership potential, perseverance and cheerfulness. We will also announce the winners of the rafting challenge. Everyone is having a great time and we’ll be sad to leave tomorrow.
