Educational Visits
On Monday we waved good bye to Year 6 as they set off for their residential trip to Hoi An. As I joined them on Tuesday evening the nervous expressions had disappeared and the smiling faces of our year 6 students had returned. They were full of stories of adventure and new experiences that had taken place in those short 36 hours since they left BIS.
The activities for the students are planned carefully by our staff and they didn’t disappoint. On Wednesday morning Group A set off for the scavenger hunt in Old Hoi An, whilst the other half of the group went to Tra Que Herb Garden, a beautiful oasis between the town and An Bang Beach. In a world with ever increasing pressures, use of technology and convenience, our students worked with the farmers to prepare the soil, make natural fertiliser and tend to the crops. The smells of lemon grass, coriander, basil and spring onions drifted through the air and their hands and onto the plates as they learned how to make Banh xeo.
Educational visits are really important and observing students as the learn in new environments, push themselves even when they were not sure, collaborating with others and engaging in the range of activities is especially rewarding. The Year 6 staff and I felt incredibly proud as people commented on the excellent behaviour, thoughtful questions that our young BIS ambassadors demonstrated over the course of the week. Mr. Labelle summed it up well before the trip when he said ‘the students will return from this trip a little bit taller; full of new experiences, new friendship and a great sense of achievement that will stay with them for a very long time’.
Year 5 Exhibition
On Wednesday, Year 5 held a showcase of their work about Space for their IPC exit point. The event was well attended by family and friends; the children had prepared a wide variety of different interactive games and learning stations to show off everything they had learnt and to also teach others! The blindfolded game of putting the planets in order was a challenging but extremely popular choice! The Artwork on display by the children was outstanding, I know many parents had a try at creating their own paintings too. The children had clearly worked very hard and there were a great range of activities and learning taking place. Well done Year 5!
Year 2 Fitness
This week on Wednesday and Thursday Year 2 invited their families in to participate in some student led exercise to help them achieve this half term’s Global Citizenship Challenge of ‘Demonstrating Balance’. Many parents came along in their sportswear and were faced with an extremely fast paced and dare I say challenging work out. The children were encouraging their parents to show perseverance and not to give up when they were tired! Well done Year 2 – I bet you slept well that night!
Internet Safety
The Internet is an amazing place for your child to explore and learn. We want to encourage them to use the Internet but we want them to be safe and responsible whilst doing do. Please click on the link below to learn more about this from Mr. Trett our Computer Science teacher to learn more

Year 4 Shakespeare Performance
Year 4 have been exploring the works of William Shakespeare. Each class had to research, write and perform their very own mini play based on the following plays: Macbeth, Romeo & Juliet, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The exciting final performance allowed each and every child to showcase their English speaking & listening skills in a public setting with a real live audience. Their efforts were exceptional. It was lovely to see so many parents at the performance.
We start our Tet holiday today for the next two weeks so wishing you all an enjoyable break, Chuc Mung Nam Moi
