We are looking forward to seeing you at next week’s BIS Hanoi parent information mornings. Times below:
Tuesday 4th September 9 am Year 7 (Theatre)
Tuesday 4th September 9 am Year 10 (Library)
Wednesday 5th September 9 am Year 8 (Theatre)
Thursday 6th September 9 am Year 9 (Lheatre)
The meetings will provide parents with information about curriculum, assessment and the school residential trips, which take place from 18-21 September.
Due to the holiday, we are holding the Year 10 information morning at the same time as the Year 7 information morning. Senior Staff will be available after both these presentations to answer questions of parents, whose children are in both year groups, if they attend the Year 7 meeting rather than the Year 10 meeting.
Safety on Residential Trips (18-21 September)
All students in Year 7 to Year 10 will attend the residential trips from Tuesday 18 September to Friday 21 September. This week and next, trip leaders and our health and safety officer are visiting each site and rehearsing the activities to make sure the children will be safe at all times.
On Tuesday evening, all teachers received safety training on effective risk management, whilst on Friday we briefed the children on the importance of following our safety guidelines.
We are very proud of the challenging and interesting activities that we present to the children on our residential trips but we only undertake activities that can be safely managed.
Preparing BIS Hanoi Athletes for the Hanoi Athletic Conference
This week we have been running volleyball, basketball and soccer trials for the BIS Hanoi Junior Varsity and Varsity squads. A large number of athletes have tried out this year and squad selection was very competitive. I was involved in selecting the Varsity and Junior Varsity basketball squads and it was a really difficult process, as twenty four boys were competing for the 10-man squads.
I hope that those boys and girls not selected in our squads will recover from any disappointment they feel and continue to play sport with enthusiasm. It would also be wonderful if they, with other BIS Hanoi students, can come and support the school teams when they begin playing games against other schools.
It has been a busy start to the term. Teachers and students have settled really well. I wish everyone a wonderful holiday weekend and look forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday.
