Students were challenged to write an original story inspired by a shared setting and character provided by Nord Anglia. We’re delighted to announce that the story written by Gyurim (Alice) in Year 9 has been shortlisted for the next round of the Global Campus Writing Competition, placing her among the top 20 entries worldwide. Her work will be judged by guest author Sam Sedgman, alongside stories from students across the Nord Anglia network.
The scale of this achievement is particularly impressive. A total of 4,282 students from 53 campuses took part in the competition, with 119 global entries submitted for judging. Being shortlisted among the final 20 highlights Gyurim’s exceptional creativity, originality, and writing skill.
Gyurim’s story explores environmental themes and the relationship between humanity and nature, drawing inspiration from powerful natural settings and symbolic storytelling.
Reflecting on her work, she shared: “The idea of quietness and pondering leading to a message more potent than loud, dramatic words was the source of my inspiration.”
Participating in the competition was both exciting and challenging for Gyurim, and the recognition has had a meaningful impact on her confidence as a writer. Being shortlisted has encouraged her to continue developing her imaginative writing skills and to explore important global issues through storytelling.
Students can log in to Global Campus to read Gyurim’s shortlisted story and explore other outstanding entries from across the Nord Anglia community.
The final winners of the Global Campus Writing Competition will be announced at the beginning of May, and we look forward to sharing further updates.
Congratulations to Gyurim on this remarkable achievement. We are incredibly proud of her success and wish her the very best in the next stage of the competition.
