Year 7's trip to La Ferme du Colvert Year 7 are off to a great trip to La Ferme du Colvert.

Year 7 are off to a great trip to La Ferme du Colvert.

Day 1 (15/10):

First action-packed day of activities awaited Year 7 on arrival at La Ferme du Colvert.
They were straight out into the countryside where they picked guava and star fruit in the organic garden. The walk there and back meant that they were ready for a big feed: enjoying delicious bun cha and spring rolls.
This afternoon, each group has taken part in water games in the pool, team building games, a cooking class and a tea ceremony!
They will have the chance to relax before dinner and then this evening, their amazing teachers have prepared games and a quiz.
We are sure they will sleep well tonight!

Day 2 (16/10):

Year 7 were challenged in so many ways today through an epic "Amazing Race". They went on a grand circular route through the local Muong communities and beautiful countryside.
9 team challenges awaited them at points on the route: bridge building, egg carrying and even learning a traditional Muong folk song!
Every single member of the 4 teams had an opportunity to contribute to their group and it was incredible to see how everyone showed had different skills to offer. Everyone was so positive and supportive through the tasks - there will be a lot of house points to add on when we get back!
We were out and about for close to 8 hours today, having a delicious picnic lunch packaged in banana leaves! We walked a massive 10.5km: most of our group said this was their longest ever walk. But they all had a smile on their face and loved the day.
What will tomorrow have in store?

Day 3 (17/10):

Last full day was full of opportunities to learn new skills in a variety of contexts.
We prepared the soil using hand tools so that we could plant lettuce. Then we had a relaxing and peaceful time picking tea.
The highlight for many of our students today was the raft building and racing. Each team had to construct a raft from bamboo and floats, learning how to tie strong knots and make the structure floatable.
Then they tested them out on the lake- fantastic fun and all the students demonstrated great communication and team work.
For our final evening, our wonderful hosts at La Ferme du Colvert laid on a gala dinner. This was proceeded by Muong traditional dancing, awards ceremony and disco! A great way to celebrate a fantastic trip.
