BIS Hanoi wins 3rd place in HAC Maths Olympiad 2019 We are delighted to announce that British International School Hanoi came 3rd place overall across the whole competition! This is absolutely fantastic, and the four teams should be very proud.

On Saturday 23 February 2019, Wellspring International Bilingual School hosted the 2019 Maths Olympiad competition. 12 international schools participated in the competition which consisted of 5 rounds of fun and challenging mathematical activities.

The event was organised by a group of international schools in Hanoi, who came together to inspire students who love mathematics. It was a great opportunity for students to develop their teamwork and communication skills whilst tackling some interesting mathematical tasks. Mr Young, Mr Russell and I joined our four BIS teams for the exciting event.

Our BIS teams were as follows:

MS #1: Kang Seo Young (Y7), Ta Hoang Ngan (Y7), Fujimoto Kanta (Y8), To Thuc An (Y8), Seo Sung Min (Y9)

MS #2: Morisako Rie (Y7), Pham Quang Hung (Y8), Do Thien Huong (Y9), Pham Gia Han (Y9)

HS #1: (Left to Right) JEONG, Hye In (Helen) JUNG, Eun Ji HOANG Minh Nhat THAN Duc Anh KIM, Ji Min

HS #2: (Left to Right) Lee Suh Jin (Angela), Kim Min Ji, Seo Young Ran, Nguyen Canh Khoi, Kwon Gu Hyeon

Our students participated in the event with great enthusiasm and made us very proud. The rounds were challenging, but the students showed great perseverance and worked well in their teams.

This year attracted the participation of 23 high school teams and 23 secondary teams from 12 different schools.

Our middle school teams were both positioned in the top 10! 3rd place went to BIS #1 and 9th place went to BIS #2.

Our senior teams were positioned as follows: 5th place went to BIS #1 and 15th place went to BIS #2.

We are delighted to announce that British International School Hanoi came 3rd place overall across the whole competition! This is absolutely fantastic, and the four teams should be very proud.
