Celebrating Talent at BIS Hanoi

Dear Parents,

Health and Safety has been an overall theme for us this week.

  • Toner E-safety
  • H&S Assembly
  • H&S Assembly 1

In the Secondary Assembly this morning, Mr Toner reminded us all about online safety, cyberbullying and fake news which is circulated via the internet. You may wish to read more about these very important issues in Mr Trett’s article.

Overall health and well-being at school is very important. On Tuesday and Wednesday, we welcomed our annual Health and Safety Audit from a representative from our Regional Nord Anglia Education Team and a fellow Principal. They scrutinised Health and Safety policies, looked at safety in classrooms, outdoor areas, canteen kitchens and offices before issuing us with a detailed report. They were very pleased with the overall safety on the campus and our increasing culture of ensuring the campuses are as safe as possible. Some minor recommendations have been made which will be acted upon over the following weeks.

One highlight this week was my visit to the Phase 3 Exhibition which was a showcase of learning in Year 5 and 6. Enthusiastic children demonstrated their skills and knowledge about learning across all curricular areas including public speaking, mathematics, science and music.

U13 FOBISIA

At BIS, we recognise a variety of talent. Currently our talented Under 13 FOBISIA team are competing in Phuket across a range of sports and I am enjoying hearing about their accomplishments.

  • MUN 2019 1
  • MUN 2019 5
  • MUN 2019 4
  • MUN 2019 3

BIS has also sent a talented team of speakers to debate current issues at UNIS for the Model United Nations.

Eric 1

Other achievements which I would like to share highlight how BIS students are succeeding outside the school. I have recently had the chance to congratulate one of our highly talented musicians, Eric in Year 5. He frequently plays the piano for us in the foyer and during concerts in school but on this occasion, he has really excelled by coming first in a prestigious competition in South Korea. You can find out more in the article here.

  • Wilderness Foundation Africa 1
  • Wilderness Foundation Africa

Then today, we were able to celebrate the achievement of two students who have won a competition organised by the Wilderness Foundation Africa. Cho Won Ho (Jack) in Year 8 has come first in the poster competition and Duc Tuan in Year 11 entered his essay about the plight of the rhino and won an incredible prize: a 6 day trip to South Africa!

Congratulations to all our incredibly talented students!
