Fantastic Attendance for Parents’ Evenings

At BIS, we highly value the importance of the home-school partnership and how it supports every child in their educational journey. I would like to say a huge thank you to all parents for coming to this weeks’ Primary Parents’ Evenings; we had almost a 100% attendance for every class. Our teachers have enjoyed meeting parents, celebrating children’s achievements, highlighting next steps and sharing how you can support at home. Although there are formal times set for these meetings, we welcome parents in at any point during the year, so please don’t hesitate to get in touch if there is ever anything we can do to help or if you would like a progress update.

We love books!

One way of supporting your child at home, is to read to them and encourage them to read every day. All children bring home Big Cat books as well as library books every day. Reading in your home language is just as important as it is in English, it supports the crucial foundations of a child’s first language, on which a second or third language can develop. Two inspiring Primary students, who love reading, have set up a Reading Competition which they launched in the Phase 3 Assembly today. Will and Angus confidently presented their ideas as they launched the ‘Primary Reading Competition’. It is a fantastic initiative where children can earn house points by completing a short activity after reading a book. We hope that all children in Phase 3 get involved.

Global Campus launch

Students of all Primary ages can also access books online through Global Campus, what better way to kick start the Primary Reading Competition than to log into Global Campus https://globalcampus.nae.school/ and get reading. There is an extensive range of ways students can engage with Global Campus, this exciting platform, which supports learners across our school and all Nord Anglia Schools around the globe, has a wide range of activities from Creative Writing to Steam and from Performing Arts to Cooking Challenges. To learn more about Global Campus and how your child can access it at home, please CLICK HERE for an article from Darragh Shanahan.

Wishing you all a lovely weekend,
