Primary School Updates (7 January 2022)

Weekly update from Head of Primary

Happy New Year, everyone!

A warm welcome to new families joining BIS this term, and welcome back to all our returning families. I hope you all enjoyed the Winter Break. As we welcome the students back, the Term 2 curriculum is already underway, and exciting learning has been taking place. Year 2s began the year with a party as their Entry Point into their learning based on the topic 'Celebrations'. Having written party invitations, followed by cooking and making decorations, the students were ready for their party and were hooked into their next topic for the half-term ahead. In F3 the children have been sharing their holiday adventures and making resolutions of things they would like to achieve in 2022. I can’t wait to see if they learn to ride a bike, take care of their toys and learn to blade! In Key Stage 2, we are seeing the students turn into Archaeologists in Year 3 and Engineers and Inventors in Year 4.

I am sure all parents have now received the Curriculum Statements for this half-term which will give a detailed overview of the learning taking place in all curriculum areas, and I hope you find it useful. As always, there are regular updates on ClassDojo regarding events happening and information about Entry and Exit Points. You should have also received the reminders about the Parents' Evening, which is taking place next week. Please click on the Parent Portal link HERE and log in to sign up for your meetings with class teachers and specialists.

The Great Tet Race 2022 BIS Hanoi

Today we launched our House Competition in assemblies across the Primary and Secondary schools. The Great Tết Race is a challenge for students, staff, and families to get involved in: Get moving every day and count your kilometres! It is an opportunity to get fit by doing exercise every day and clocking up as many kilometres as possible as their kilometres will be converted into House Points. The one thing we ask is that every family donates VND100,000 to join in this event before they start collecting kilometres. All donations will go to the National Children’s Cancer Hospital in Hanoi. Over the next two weeks, we will be arranging some donation points across the city so that you can donate and get involved in this charitable event by getting moving, which we know is so good for us.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend,

Rebecca Carroll

Head of Primary
