Letters from Little Rose Shelter about BVIS Art Exhibition

25 June 2015

Name: Pham Thi Van Anh

When we first got the news that we will be going to BVIS for art lessons, we were very excited and overwhelmed. We love to learn art but at the moment the program at our shelter got cut back, we were very sad. And then we learnt that we could come to BVIS and learn how draw at the top facility, it means we could express our full potential. Other than that we can learn english from our foreigner art teacher as well. All the students at BVIS were very kind to us and help us translate what the teacher said if we didn’t understand. Even though the time we spent learning together wasn’t long but we’ve made some new friends. At first, we didn’t know how we were going to get to BVIS, but the teacher said we will be picked up by school bus, I was very happy. When we first started to take the bus to school, we didn’t want to disturb the driver so we were very quite the whole way to school. After the second weeks, we got used to the driver and we started chatting to make the drive shorter, it was very nice. Today was our last day at BVIS I was actually very sad. But for me this experience was extrodinary because with my family situation I could never dream about coming to a school like BVIS, but with the help of all the teachers and students at BVIS and the staffs at my shelter I got to learn art at BVIS. I’m thankful and very happy.

I was very happy and excited when I learnt that I will be spending sometimes at BVIS for art lessons. I was also very nervous because I heard that BVIS is a very big school. We got picked up by the school bus, when we arrived I was overwhelmed by how big and beautiful the school is. A teaching assistant came down and lead us to the art room. When we arrived at the classroom, the teachers and all the students are preparing for class, we were asked to sit down and started the lesson. Everyone was very enthusiatic to help us, the students gave us the art equipments and the teacher gave us photos of the city and other scenery too. After we had the photos we started to draw. Everyone was very concentrated to finish the painting. After we finished all the paintings was displayed on the board. When we finished the lesson BVIS’s bus took us back to our school.

We are very grateful to have the opportunity to learn art at BVIS, I want to thank you the art teacher for teaching us and the bus driver to take us to BVIS. I wish I could have another day to be at the school to draw again.

When I heard that our shelter will get a chance to learn art at BVIS on April I was very thrilled and excited. I couldn’t believe I will be in this amazing international school.

We came to BVIS only once a week on Monday. Even though we couldn’t come here for art lessons all the time but it was very happy and proud to come here just for a month. Every Monday, the school bus driver came to pick us up, he was always very nice to us and he always offered to help if we had any problems. We got a lot of help from everyone at BVIS when we didn’t know how to draw something. The teacher was magnificent, she was nice and funny, our art class was always fun. We laughed and talked to each other without any pressure from studying. We felt very lucky and blessed when the teachers and the BVIS students helping and caring for us. I promised to always do my very best in studying so I can become a useful individual in this world and bot disappointed my teachers.
