ENGLISH AS AN ADDITIONAL LANGUAGE

At International College Spain, students who are new to English or are still acquiring English for academic purposes receive English as an Additional Language (EAL) support as they adapt to learning in English.

The EAL Programme teaches English through content areas to students who have not reached academic proficiency in English. In Primary and Secondary, EAL teachers support students as they develop English skills needed to access and participate fully in the IB curriculum. The programme provides small group instruction and in-class support to students from Grade 1. This is based on educational research and best practice in international schools around the world. Students who are identified as requiring EAL support will join the EAL programme.
