JOIN OUR OPEN DAY!
Highlights from our secondary school this month
I hope you are enjoying our updates and getting a glimpse of the real learning taking place in our school every day. I'd like to take this opportunity to congratulate some of our outstanding students.
Each year, the Nord Anglia Education family of schools hosts a Visual Arts Competition where students of all ages from our 61 schools worldwide are invited to submit a piece based on a set theme. This year, the competition focussed on Sustainable Development Goals 4 and 16, quality education and peace, justice and strong institutions, and challenges students to show what these goals mean to them. UNICEF supported the judging of the competition. ICS Grade 8 student, Daniela Martinez, won with her painting ‘Just Breathe’. As you can see she has amazing artistic talent and her painting will be showcased in New York during the United Nation's High Level Political Forum in July this year. Congratulations Daniela!
We're also looking forward to hearing the winners of the Nord Anglia Creative Writing Competition soon.
The musical talent of Grade 8 student, Jaime Infante, was demonstrated to the whole of Spain on the TV programme ‘Prodigios’. Jaime is a winner to us and came second out of thousands of aspiring musicians, dancers and singers. To see one of the amazing performances by Jaime on the show click here.
As part of World Book Day a few weeks ago, students from Grades 6 & 7 took partin a writing competition of short texts and micro-poems . The amazing winners in first position were:- Zoe Hautier Gutierrez for ‘La Perspectiva’, Luis Díaz-Rubio for ‘El Libro’ & Henry Wilcox for ‘El Pollo Azul’. Other winners included:- Almudena Haro, Andrea Verdesoto, Martín Gómez-Pablos, Cristina Higueras, Lucas Lacarra, Mor Robinson, Cicy Chen, Mera Akachi-Kanu, Amelie West, Xiaoya Yang & Brooks Finkel.
Earlier this month, Grade 8 students have had a jam packed cultural itinerary on their visit with the Arts Department to London. They went to various landmarks, visited many museums saw the West End Show ‘Wicked’ and danced at the Pineapple Dance Studios. An all round trip wonderfully organised and led by Ms Hodgson and Mr BT.
Good luck to all our students who will be sitting exams this month - we hope they go brilliantly!
