Outstanding IB Diploma Results from the 2019 Graduating Class

Congratulations are in order, as our International Baccalaureate Diploma students from the 2019 graduating class achieved a 100% pass rate!

Head of Secondary Mr Barry Hughes said, “In offering our congratulations it is important to note that International College Spain is an open entry school where the IB Diploma is offered in Grades 11 and 12. The vast majority of our students take this very demanding IB programme where it is only available as an option in many schools. The performance of our students was very pleasing with many remarkable individual accomplishments at all levels of the Diploma Score spectrum. These results are a testament to the hard work of both teachers and students as well as the strength of the IB Diploma programme at ICS”.

The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, commonly referred to as the IBDP, is a two-year education programme for students age 16-19. The programme is a widely accepted and recognised qualification for entry into higher education and universities worldwide such as Cambridge, Oxford and Imperial in the UK, as well as Stanford, Duke and other Ivy League Colleges in the US.

This year’s cohort achieved a 100% Pass Rate from the 77 candidates entered for the full Diploma with an Average Diploma Score of 34 out of 45 points. This compares very favourably with the global average of all IB schools of 30 points. 9% of these passing Diplomas were on or above the 40-point mark with the highest score being 44 points. This too is well above world averages.
