This week, Year 3 students have been learning about arrays for multiplication and division in Maths.  They explored fact families and then moved onto written methods to record their thinking. In Literacy, the children have been identifying how Persuasive features are used in letters and making up their own examples. In Whole Class Reading, the children are continuing with their text 'George's Marvellous Medicine' and using their predicting and inference skills, using evidence from the text to support their answers.

This week, Year 4 students have been learning all about factors of numbers and have been common denominators to simplify fractions. It has been a pleasure to see many children challenging themselves and extending their learning through Maths Mastery tasks. In Whole Class Reading, the children are continuing with their text ‘The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane’. They have been clarifying unfamiliar words and inferring information from the text, using quotes from the story to support their answers. In Literacy, the children have been continuing their work on explanation texts and learning to use the subordinating conjunctions ‘While’, ‘When’, ‘As’ and ‘So that’.

This Friday, the Year 4 MFL students listened to some fantastic presentations on the Spanish and French courses being offered to them as they move up through the school. It is time for them to make an important decision this weekend, whether to continue their school career learning Spanish or French – we wish them all the best in making this decision!

Ms. Fitzpatrick set some off-screen challenges including Building a Reading Den; we hope you enjoy some of the creations in the photos. Also, don’t forget you can do some of her workouts that are available on Class Dojo.

The Phase 2 teaching team are incredibly proud of the enthusiasm, perseverance and commitment of the children this week. Keep up the hard work Phase 2!
