Care and Respect at BIS

Dear Parents,

Respect, care and integrity are three important words from our BIS Mission Statement. In our Primary School, our BIS Superheroes: Captain Care, Respect again and Indiana Integrity help younger children to remember and actively practice these characteristics and the Secondary pastoral programme includes many elements relating to these. In our newsletter today, you will find an article from our Secondary Pastoral Team which outlines some of the discussions taking place about the Black Lives Matter campaign and the way in which countries around the world are responding.

Hy Vong visit

One of the ways we celebrate and educate children about differences in the world today is through our links with community partners. Last week, I wrote about our BIS link with Hy Vong School for disabled children and the joy I felt on hearing about the impact our relationship is having on the lives of their students. For BIS students, the impact is equally as important. The strong message is that everyone is special and unique and deserves respect and kindness. This also relates to the Black Lives Matter campaign and was referred to in the Primary assemblies last week.

Y12 to Blue Dragon

This week, it was a pleasure to see the deliveries of clothes and toiletries made to Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation and to School on the Boat; two more of our community partners. Mr Kev’s article provides further details about where the donations, made by our BIS community prior to the outbreak of COVID 19, have gone.

Lastly, I would like to congratulate our students on their Global Campus Performing Arts successes. Sam Hwang, Geon Yi and Eric have been incredibly successful in this global competition and should be very proud of their achievements.
