Staff Profile: Darragh Shanahan

Darragh Shanahan BIS Hanoi 2019

Assistant Head of Primary

Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.), Mary Immaculate College, University of Limerick.

Masters of Arts in Educational Leadership (M.A.), University of Roehampton, London.


Darragh completed his initial teacher training in the Republic of Ireland. After qualifying, he began his teaching career in Doha, Qatar. Here he taught across Key Stage 1 and he was Curriculum Enrichment Coordinator. After his time in the Middle East, Darragh moved to Prague, Czech Republic. In Prague, Darragh has experience working in classes across the entire primary school and he played an active role in a school merger. He held positions in both pastoral and academic areas of the school as Head of Year and English subject coordinator. Darragh enjoys reading, squash, tennis, hiking in the great outdoors and exploring new places, meeting new people and experiencing different cultures through travel.
