Nia grew up in Wiltshire, before moving to Yorkshire to study at the University of Sheffield, where she graduated with a BA in International Relations and Politics in 2016. Alongside her degree, Nia volunteered in schools and private tutoring in Maths. She went on to train as a teacher and qualified with Teach First. Staying in Yorkshire, Nia spent five years teaching Maths in two large secondary schools in Hull, which has given her a strong skill set in both pedagogical techniques and behaviour management. The pandemic lockdowns helped her realise she’d like to experience teaching outside the UK and to encounter other cultures, while doing the job she loves. Nia’s favourite aspects of teaching are the ‘lightbulb moments’ where students suddenly grasp a new concept or idea. She enjoys building good relationships with all students through the use of praise and positive reinforcement.
Nia has always enjoyed travelling and exploring new countries and cultures. In her spare time, she enjoys singing, dancing and keeping fit.
