Dear parents,
We are very excited this week with our unique Nord Anglia platform for student collaboration, Global Campus. The students have been given their log in cards which contain all of the information needed to access this wonderful (yet fully safe) site. There is a user guide included with this week’s newsletter, and I would fully encourage you to spend some time with your child to explore the Global Campus activities and pages in detail when you have the chance. There is so much to do, with new content appearing all of the time, and for all ages. From writing competitions to stories, cooking to swimming, there is something of interest for everyone - and the chance to connect with more than 67,000 students in the Nord Anglia family. My colleague Zoë Casson, the Global Campus Regional Lead for China, has spoken with children in assembly and has created the aforementioned guide - she has been instrumental in sharing all of the benefits of Global Campus. Thank you Zoe.
Year 11 have been leading the planning for the upcoming World Children’s Day on November 20th, which we plan to celebrate again this year. They have suggested several creative ideas to mark the event, and we will share further details of these soon. I remember last year my office being taken over by students, so perhaps there may be that opportunity again this year. What I am certain of is the fact that the students themselves are deciding upon what we will do, in keeping with the aims of the day.
We have the second of our Parent Workshops planned and ready to share - Paul McCarthy will present a session on Primary Mathematics. Look out for details of that event, we hope that many of you will be able to join us.
Additionally this week I am greatly looking forward to starting our programme of house events. With the lack of sporting fixtures or ability to travel to other schools, our Athletic Director Tom McCabe has planned a series of house tournaments for our students to be able to compete and develop. Not just in sports, but in other areas as well, allowing again for everyone to be involved and to develop their passion.
Have a great weekend,
Tom Ferguson
