Andrea Medina, a homeroom teacher from Third Grade, participated with 25 other Nord Anglia educators in a one-of-a-kind learning experience at Apple Learning Academy last March.  

At the Metropolitan School of Panama, we believe in the power of making a positive impact on both our community and the environment. To this end, we are proud to introduce the "Food Waste Reduction and Management Program."

Meet Glarencia, our Operations Manager who, like many, once believed that running wasn't suitable for her. Little did she know that it was just the beginning of an incredible journey that would lead her to tackle the most challenging race of his life.

At the MET, we believe that cultural diversity is a treasure to be celebrated and embraced. That's why every year, we eagerly anticipate the "Mes de la Patria" or Panamanian Cultural Week, a unique event that sets us apart as a school community.

Mr. Ryan Manary, our IB educator, embarked on a transformative academic and professional path. The program of choice was offered by King's College London and facilitated through distance learning, demanding dedication and self-discipline. 

This is the first year that the MET Jaguars participate in Copa Talento’s U9 category. Our team trained and worked hard all year preparing for the tournament and managed to bring a trophy home! 🏆⚽

We had the great honor of receiving the Minister of Education, Ms. Maruja Gorday de Villalobos, along with her leadership team on their first official visit to the MET last Wednesday, May 18.

We couldn’t be more proud of our #METstudents! Nord Anglia Education awarded over US$150,000 from its latest round of funding to 10 new student-led social impact projects around the world, including the MET Environmental Club.

‘Through small actions, everyone can make an impact.’ Our Grade 5 IB PYP Exhibition inspired us to remember that each of us can make a difference and that all of our actions and reactions impact the world around us.

On April 1, the entire PYP participated in a new MET tradition called Green Valley Day! All grade levels engaged in outdoor education experiences related to their Units of Inquiry.

MET students achieve more than they may have thought possible. We believe there is no limit to what students can achieve socially, personally and academically. This year, our students’ academic results reflect our shared commitment to excellence.

In 2019, the MET undertook an important educational initiative in partnership with Framingham State, to recruit Masters level candidates from the MET and the Panama Association of International Schools (PAIS) and create a first cohort here in Panama. Within a relatively short period of time this academic project came to fruition. The initial degree offered was a Master of Education (M.Ed.) with a concentration in International Teaching.

In 2019, the MET undertook an important educational initiative in partnership with Framingham State, to recruit Masters level candidates from the MET and the Panama Association of International Schools (PAIS) and create a first cohort here in Panama. The Panamanian Cultural Week is considered one of the most distinguished projects held annually at the Metropolitan School of Panama. Since opening in 2011, every November the MET family joins in the celebrations, dedicating a week to learning about the customs and traditions of Panama, where all members of our educational community have the opportunity to participate in interesting workshops and a folkloric gala, paying tribute to the host country.

After 9 years in the City of Knowledge, we spent the week saying goodbye. Trucks pulling in and out, and workers all through the building. With each day that passed, the building got a little bit emptier. We raised the flag on Monday. Then lowered it and packed it away safely for its trip to Green Valley. We heard some poignant memories and reflections from those members of our family who have been here since Day One in August 2011.

Although this year's event looked different to previous years, here at the MET we were determined to ensure that the graduation ceremony was a special moment for our Class of 2020 graduates.
