OUR SOCIAL PURPOSE

Central to our ethos as a community, we help our students expand their worldview through varied social impact initiatives — among other local Panamanian communities, in the environment, and beyond. By getting involved in service and working closely with others who have different experiences from us, we nurture globally conscious, young leaders who use their skills and talents in meaningful ways.

TAKING INITIATIVE

Our students get involved where it matters, and their actions give them a sense of fulfillment from knowing they’re helping another person. For example, our students’ service clubs like Make-A-Wish club, Operation Smile, and CanCure make tangible contributions to others’ needs. Our students have also helped coordinate meals with local food businesses, supporting medical professionals during Covid-19 as well as low-income communities with nutritional needs in Panama City.

SCULPTING SOLUTIONS

Students involved with our Model United Nations team, MET MUN, can meanwhile build their experience in creating solutions to both local and global problems, using their research, public speaking, teamwork, negotiation, and writing skills in a safe and structured environment. They’re empowered to connect their actions to those of other nations and cultures, seeking to improve lives across the world.

LEADING WITH SUSTAINABILITY

From beach clean-ups to environmental outreach opportunities, our students show they care, specifically getting involved in sustainable initiatives and awareness campaigns. For example, in the past, MET students hosted the METGREEN conference, which was granted a Social Impact Award from Nord Anglia Education for their initiative in bringing a variety of environmental professionals together to address ways to decrease negative human impacts on the environment.

PARTNERING WITH OUR SISTER SCHOOL

The MET has a Sister School Program with a local Panamanian school, facilitated via the Ministry of Education. By working with our sister school, MET students assist real-life challenges as they collaborate to advocate for others’ needs. For example, one recent project has been supplying running water to our local sister school from our water well on campus. Such experiences help our students reflect, build their characters, take on leadership roles, and create a positive impact.

BUILDING A BETTER WORLD, TOGETHER

At the MET, our social purpose is driven by our belief that education has the power to change the world. With outstanding teachers and exceptional opportunities all around them, our students use their inspiring start in life as the strong foundation to become leaders who make a difference.
