Day 2
In the morning we got ready to have a small practice around the hotel. After that, we got ready to go to a shopping mall. When we arrived at the shopping mall, we looked around and had some pizza in a restaurant. We also got to watch a movie in the mall and went back to the hotel. At the hotel, we got a little welcoming from some students who came from NISC and they gave us shirts and a bags that had the NISC logo. That was a really nice gesture from their side! Then everyone got ready for the meeting dinner. The meeting dinner was held in a big ballroom. It was amazing to see how many schools were participating and how diverse the people are. I felt proud to be part of such a community. There was a welcome note and after that, we went back to our floor, our teachers explained what we were going to do tomorrow then we went to bed, excited for games the next day.
Day 3
Third Day was the day of the Teeball competition. We had a small picture taken of the whole team as a very nice memory and then jumped in the bus. It took about 45min to get to the school. Finally, when we arrived we were ready for the matches. The first game didn’t go our way, our opposite team were very athletic and we only had 8 people fielding while the other team had 12, but we felt confident and agreed that the next game will be better. Later on, we had our second game. The second game was really tight as we only needed 1 more point to draw with them. But we did pretty good in fielding by getting people out. We were very tired and sad that we had lost but felt proud that we gave our maximum and hopeful to win the next game. While we were preparing for our next game, which was an important game for us, we lost 2 members of our teams due to injuries and health problems, so we knew it was going to be difficult. Unfortunately, we lost our match because there were only 6 people fielding but we kept a positive attitude and believed we will do better in basketball. After that we watched the boys play their basketball match, they played very good and finished at 5th place, together with another school. They made us proud and motivated for our game tomorrow. With that positive feeling, we went back to the hotel.
Day 4
All of the girls woke up in the morning feeling confident and ready for the basketball games that were up ahead. As time passed we got on the bus and eventually arrived at the school. Since our first game was far away so we watched the boys play their first tee ball game and cheered them on! Our first game was not good as we lost from the better team, but we played hard and well. For the 2nd game, we felt much better although we were losing until the last minute. All the girls played very well and I was able to grab ball and score for draw and overtime! In overtime, we played even better by playing great defence, and thanks to the team effort, I was again in good position to shoot, and I scored for our first win. We were so happy and celebrated win with our teachers!
That gave us motivation and we won the 2nd game as well, but unfortunately, due to the scoring system, our team did not qualify for semi – finals, although we won against runner-up. Bad luck! We won our next game as well and finished in 5th place. We did not get a trophy this time, but I am sure we will get it next year. Our boy team made us proud as they won 3rd place in tee ball.
On the end, it was a great pleasure to be in Cambodia, we had a fantastic time, we had a lot of fun, and we got an important experience for next tournaments. I felt proud to be a member of BSY team and big thanks to teachers who supported us through all preparations and tournament.
We came back on Sunday night, tired but happy and proud, welcomed by our family and friends who were eager to hear all the details from our adventure!
