PTA QUIZ NIGHT

First up, a huge thank you to the PTA for a thoroughly enjoyable "Fiesta" Quiz Night. It was superbly organised and a great evening for catching up with parents and teachers in a relaxed - yet competitive - environment!

PTA GALA DINNER - 4 June, Kowloon Shangri-La Hotel

We are looking forward to the next amazing event organised by our hard-working PTA.

The Gala Dinner Committee has asked me to remind you that tickets are selling fast, so please register here:

http://nais-pta-gala-dinner-registration.eventbrite.hk

We really look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at this lovely evening. It promises to be a relaxed evening among friends, and a wonderful excuse to dust off your beautiful evening dresses and black tie.

Importantly, the Gala Dinner will feature a Silent Auction of "Promises from our Teachers". Our teachers are volunteering their time to offer a range of activities for your children: from a 'Football Challenge' with Mr Handley, Mr Boast, Mr Atkinson and Mr Davidson to a Pyjama Party in the Library with Miss Howard, Miss Batiste and Miss Johnson. I’ve also just learned that our very own Mr Fielding was formerly a tennis pro, so he’s auctioning a tennis lesson for Years 3 to 6 (and their parent, I’m sure, if you ask nicely!).

BOOKS & BUNS - Caernarfon and Sandringham Charity Day - 20 May

As you'll know, we take our responsibilties to our local commuity very seriously. All our Houses support one local charity every year, and our students get very involved in thinking of creative ways to raise money.

On 20 May, students and parents from Caernarfon and Sandringham will be joining forces to organise a "Bake Off" and "Book Sale". Please bring any second hand books, in good condition, to our Library, and if you'd like to compete in our "Bake Off", you'll need to confirm your team to Mr Handley by 10 May.

For all the details, please click here (and continue to check the 'Houses' section of Firefly).

SUMMER CAMPS – Please remember to check the activities that we’ll be offering over the Summer holidays. These are open to NAIS and non-NAIS families.

PHOTO ALBUMS FROM RESIDENTIAL TRIPS

We've now pulled together hundreds of photos from the Residential Trips (Year 3 & 4). You can see the Photo Albums here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/131692728@N04/sets

SWIMMING COMPETITION - Today!

We're looking forward to hearing back from our Year 5 & 6 Swimming Squad who are competing today at Kellett. Good luck NAIS Knights.

YEAR 8 SHAKESPEARE PERFORMANCE – Click for photos

Our Year 8s took on a really ambitious play today, Shakespeare's Twelth Night. The whole group had been working really heard with our Drama teachers, Miss Bovingdon and Mr De Souza to bring this play to life. You can enjoy some photos of our young thespians here.

BATTLE OF THE BOOKS - Primary & Secondary (English books) Click for photos

Our Primary Battle of the Books team competed this week, with Mrs Charlier commenting that, "it was an excellent experience for the children and has exposed them to a wide range of authors that they may not have otherwise chosen. Our team enjoyed the thrill of the competition and had some excellent rounds. We have learned a lot and are looking forward to starting the new list of books for next year’s competition, due to be published in just a few weeks!"

Our Secondary Battle of the Books students had a wonderful time today and put up a real challenge for the other teams. Librarian, Ms Richardson said, "They enjoyed working together as a team, meeting with the other schools and competing against each other. They were impeccably behaved and I am extremely proud of them!"

ROMAN DAY - Year 3 – Click for some beautiful photos

Our Year 3s ended their studies on the Romans with an amazing celebration that included work on mozaic printing, Latin code writing, Roman numerals, making plaster cast archaeological remains, as well as writing an application to join the Roman army! What an incredibly busy day.

As a side note, I happened to be showing around some guests who were very amused at the sight of all our Year 3 teachers and teaching assistants in full togas!

TUITION FEES – SCHEDULE OF PAYMENTS FOR NEXT YEAR – Click here for dates and details.

Our Finance Team has now finalised the schedule of payments for tuition fees. Your current direct debit will roll-over to the next academic year, unless you have stipulated an expiry date.

Similar to last year, your tuition fees will be drawn down on the first working day of each month, except for August and September. These are payable in one lump sum on 19 August. Please check this attached payment schedule to ensure that you have sufficient funds available on these dates. You may also find these details in ‘Admissions’ -> ‘Payment & Bank Details’.

CONTINUED TRAINING FOR OUR TEACHERS – 13 May

It’s a short week next week, as our teachers have a full day of training on Friday. Continued Professional Development is a major part of Nord Anglia Education’s commitment to ensuring that our teachers stay on the top of their game!
