From a young age, our students become socially conscious by considering how they can make a positive impact in their communities. Through dedicated initiatives, they open their eyes to the world to sculpt out their own sense of purpose, while considering how they can create a better future.

We know our students want to make their mark in the world, and we work hard at NAIS Hong Kong to empower them. In Primary, our students jump into Global Campus' Social Impact programme, where they learn about the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. In response, we task them to create solutions to some of the world's biggest problems, participating in UNICEF's Global Challenge. While supporting hundreds of local causes through the SDGs and activities with UNICEF, our students are able to gain an enhanced understanding of the world.

Many also enjoy participating in and leading local and international Model United Nations conferences, where they share their thoughts and proposals to improve the world on a global stage. At NAIS Hong Kong, our MUN Club meets weekly, and we host a junior MUN conference annually.

Some of our outstanding students even get invited to participate in the life-changing opportunity to travel internationally to join seminars, workshops, and speaking opportunities at the High-level Political Forum (HLPF) at the UN headquarters in New York. They strive to influence world leaders to make our world a better place.

In Secondary School, our students actively drive change in our communities through social entrepreneurship opportunities. They can explore their passions in ways that help others through our energetic Student Portfolios, which cover a wide range of areas – wellbeing, the environment, charities, communications, and more.

In addition to serving on our Student Portfolios, they can lead and take part in the Student Council helping our school and the Nord Anglia Student Advisory Board, devoted to social impact in and beyond our school. Once they reach the IB Diploma Programme, they get ready to drive their own independent project through the IB component known as CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service), where they bring their passion to a community.

We support our Secondary students to work with local organisations and the Nord Anglia Social Impact Award – an award given in collaboration with UNICEF UK to students at Nord Anglia schools to help a community, showcasing their work on the SDGs or children’s rights.

Our Charity, Community, and Service Student Portfolios have especially been driving NAIS HK’s charity efforts with local organisations through several initiatives. We’ve been delighted that their charity work has even been recognised by winning the Council of British International Schools (COBIS) award for ‘commitment to a charitable cause’.
Some of their impactful work has included:
  • A food drive in support of the charity FeedingHKCupid's Delivery Service for Valentine’s Day, an event to share kindness messages across our school community.
  • The Social Experiment, a week-long tutor time activity raising awareness about those less fortunate than us.
  • Leading a team of Student Portfolio ambassadors responsible for organising charity initiatives, such as on the Turkey-Syria Earthquake appeal.
