NAIS Pudong Scholarships
We are excited to announce the implementation of two new programmes in our school that we believe will greatly benefit your child's reading development: Accelerated Reader and Star Reading Assessment.
Accelerated Reader is a computer programme that provides quizzes for children to take after reading books. The quizzes test for comprehension and understanding of the material, allowing children to sharpen their reading skills and engage with a wider variety of texts. Once a child finishes reading a book, they can take an online quiz that evaluates their level of understanding, reinforcing the ideas and themes of the book.
The programme features thousands of quizzes on books and is available at all reading levels from Easy Readers to Challenging Reads, so all students can participate easily. Accelerated Reader also provides a way to track a student's progress, so parents can see what books their child is reading and how well they are understanding them.
Similarly, Star Reading Assessment is another online tool that allows teachers to grade students' reading levels and helps them to monitortheirprogress. The programme is built using advanced learning algorithms and statistical models, enabling educators to create an individualised reading plan for each student. With the help of this system, teachers can identify areas where extra attention is needed and focus on improving those skills.
Both Accelerated Reader and Star Reading Assessment are designed to put more fun, choice and satisfaction back into reading. We believe that these programmes will make reading much more engaging and accessible for your children, and will help them develop a passion for learning and knowledge.
For teachers to take full advantage of these programmes in school and support your child's development, we encourage our parents to listen to their child read at home. Together, we can make reading a fun and enjoyable activity that all our students will love!
The thrill of competition, the roar of the crowd, and the spirit of international camaraderie—our U11 athletes recently returned from the Nord Anglia International Schools Multi-Sports Event in Chengdu, and what an adventure it was!
This year’s senior drama production was not just a show — it was an experience. As parents and guests arrived at NAIS Pudong, they weren’t ushered into a theatre right away. Instead, they stepped into a 1920s speakeasy, complete with vintage jazz, decorations, and guests mingling in costume. It was the perfect prelude to what would become one of the most immersive performances we’ve ever staged.
Last Sunday, NAIS Pudong had a Spring Fling filled with laughter and joy! International families from Shanghai gathered on campus and had a wonderful family day with their children and parents on a sunny spring day.
Football season this year was fantastic! This was the first U19 girls team we’ve had in many years, and I’m in complete admiration of many girls in our team giving the sport a go for the first time, bringing football back to life for us!
