NAIS Pudong Scholarships
Last week, ten students from NAIS Pudong joined nearly 40 friends from our sister schools in Guangzhou and Cambodia for an unforgettable trip to Switzerland. From the initial shyness of meeting new faces to the lively farewells filled with laughter and heartfelt goodbyes, the friendships forged during this journey were truly touching!
The adventure kicked off with students being grouped by their skiing or snowboarding levels—beginner, intermediate, or improved. Each group was guided by experienced instructors and teachers from all three schools. Together, they skied, stumbled, and shared warm, hearty meals after a day on the slopes, which quickly brought everyone closer.
Evenings at the cozy Le Martinets lodge were just as lively. Students gathered to play board games, exchange skiing tips, share snacks, and even sing and play the piano together. Teachers joined in the fun too, chatting with students about school life and the cultural differences between Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Cambodia. These candid, heartfelt conversations created a lively and open atmosphere rarely seen in the everyday school routine.
Midway through the trip, everyone enjoyed a long-anticipated visit to the Callier Chocolate Factory and explored a quaint Swiss town. At the museum, students delved into the rich history of Swiss chocolate, watched the fascinating chocolate-making process, and excitedly shopped for gifts for their families and friends.
This trip is sure to be an unforgettable memory—a magical journey halfway across the world. In this fairytale-like winter wonderland, students learned how to ski/snowboard, fell down, got back up, and embraced the beauty of perseverance. They made new friends, learned to interact with peers from different cultural backgrounds, and experienced the world beyond the classroom. It was a journey of discovery, one that NAIS Pudong and its families are proud to encourage the students to continue.
Last week, as part of the Living Legacies series, our school had the pleasure of welcoming Ms. Chen, an associate professor of economics and parent of an eighth-grade student, to speak to our Grade 10–12 students. In her lecture, Ms. Chen explored the causes and effects of the U.S.–China tariff dispute, blending professional insight with personal experience to bring the topic to life.
