NAIS Pudong Scholarships
We were delighted to welcome Mr Justin Foley to our campus earlier this week to continue our Industry Expert series, a programme which sees specialists from a variety of industries come to talk with our senior students about their pathways and career planning.
Justin is currently the Managing Director for the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company for Greater China, having started work with the company 20 years ago! His insightful and engaging presentation gave an overview of his background, career history, and details of what his role within Goodyear entails.
Our students listened intently and asked several great questions about both the technical aspect of Goodyear products, but also about Mr Foley’s recommendations and thoughts on career planning. Current Year 12 student, Nina L-M, asked about finding a passion for a future career and Mr Foley was very clear that it’s essential for success. He explained that success, increased responsibilities, and eventually higher compensation will come if there is passion. Where students currently struggle to identify that, Mr Foley suggested focusing on even a simple goal; for him in his school years, it was to ensure that he moved out of rural Australia and not to fall into the farming industry.
Thank you to Mr Foley for this great presentation and to our students for engaging so well.
At Nord Anglia International School Shanghai, Pudong (NAIS), we believe firmly that every child has the potential to become a confident communicator and writer. Across Early Years and Primary, and leading into our Key Stage 3 transition, we utilise the Talk for Writing approach to accelerate our students’ progress in reading and writing and, crucially, in their speaking and listening.
Last Sunday, NAIS Pudong had a Spring Fling filled with laughter and joy! International families from Shanghai gathered on campus and had a wonderful family day with their children and parents on a sunny spring day.
Football season this year was fantastic! This was the first U19 girls team we’ve had in many years, and I’m in complete admiration of many girls in our team giving the sport a go for the first time, bringing football back to life for us!
