On January 8-9, 2026, six incredible school bands from across China rocked the stage at the Nord Anglia China Regional Battle of the Bands Festival in Shanghai! The participating schools included British School of Nanjing, NACIS Shanghai, NAS Jiaxing, NAS Suzhou, NAS Beijing, and NAIS Pudong.

The festival showcased remarkable team spirit and friendship as students worked side-by-side to rehearse, solve problems, and overcome musical challenges. At the competition, each school band performed both a required song and a piece of their own choice, pushing them to step outside their comfort zones. During rehearsals, students embraced an inquiry-based creative process—experimenting, collaborating, and exploring new musical ideas together. This student-led approach mirrors the Juilliard Creative Classroom method, empowering young musicians to shape their own interpretations and bring fresh energy to the stage.
We are incredibly proud of our students who performed with confidence, commitment, and outstanding musicianship. Just as importantly, our whole school community warmly welcomed visiting schools for two unforgettable days of music, collaboration, and friendship—turning our campus into a vibrant celebration of creativity and connection.
After two days of intense training and competition, the results are in:
🥇 1st Place: BSN
🥈 2nd Place: NACIS
🥉 3rd Place: NAIS Pudong
Seeing young musicians support each other across schools reminds us why events like this matter: they build confidence and resilience through real performance and create powerful connections beyond the classroom, turning competition into collaboration and lifelong memories.
A huge shoutout to EVERY band that performed—you all brought so much energy and talent to the stage! 🙌
Finally, a big thank you to our amazing Performing Arts team for their guidance and support in making this unforgettable event possible. 🎤✨
