Following a hugely successful debut, the Shanghai Highland Games 2026 returns to Nord Anglia International School Shanghai, Pudong on Saturday, 12 September 2026, bringing together traditional Scottish sport, live music, authentic food and a vibrant international community celebration for families across Shanghai.
Whether you're searching for things to do in Shanghai with kids, planning a weekend family outing, or looking to experience a unique international cultural festival, the Shanghai Highland Games promises an unforgettable day for all ages.
The inaugural Shanghai Highland Games welcomed more than 400 guests, becoming the city's first event of its kind. Co-hosted by Nord Anglia International School Shanghai, Pudong and the Shanghai Scottish organisation, the festival brought together international families, local residents, performers, community groups and business partners to celebrate Scotland's rich heritage and welcoming community spirit.
Throughout the day, the campus came alive with the sound of bagpipes, energetic ceilidh dancing, traditional Highland competitions and family-friendly entertainment. Guests enjoyed iconic events including the Caber Toss, Tyre Flip, Weights for Distance and Hammer Throw, alongside Scottish-inspired food, artisan market stalls, live performances and interactive activities for children.
The Games were officially opened by 92-year-old Honorary Chieftain Betty Barr, making the occasion even more memorable.
