What is the International Primary Curriculum (IPC)?

The International Primary Curriculum (IPC)

The IPC is the International Primary Curriculum for children aged 5 to 11 years old. It is a comprehensive, thematic, creative curriculum, with a clear process of learning and specific learning goals for all subjects.

It also develops international mindedness and encourages personal learning. The IPC is flexible and can be adapted to children's interests and level of understanding. The Personal Goals of the IPC connect directly with those of the IB learner profile and the IMYC.

We are part of an international community of schools, teachers and learners with access to an online space for information sharing. Each year at NAISR, International Primary Curriculum (IPC) units are chosen for each grade level and then incorporated cross curricula.

In order for students to make real connections to the IPC unit, they attend field trips throughout the year based upon Knowledge, Skills and Understanding studied in class. Here we can see our students visiting the Rotterdam zoo to observe animal habitats as part of the Extreme Survivors unit covering microhabitats, food webs and adaptation.
