“We nurture open-minded, curious citizens who are resilient, confident, and capable of shaping the world around them. No matter where our students come from – or where they want to go – every child leaves us with the skills to create their own global future.” - Alison Lipp, Director
At Nord Anglia International School Rotterdam (NAISR), one of our biggest responsibilities is to prepare students for a global future.
Whatever a young person’s ambitions may be – and wherever these aspirations may take them – it’s our job, as holistic global educators, to equip them with the skills, knowledge, and values to get where they want to go.
So how, exactly, do we help our students to fulfil their ambitions? And how does learning at an international school, like ours, shape their future?
In this blog, we talk about the benefits of studying here at NAIS Rotterdam – and explain how the global education we offer is designed to set our learners up for success.
Being prepared for a global future is more important today than ever before.
As society, higher education, and careers expand across countries and continents – and the world become increasingly globalised – the ability to navigate different cultures, languages, and opportunities is crucial.
International schools, like NAIS Rotterdam, develop the sorts of skills, competencies, and global citizenship students need to succeed in today’s world. Through our academic programmes, diverse learning environment, and access to one-of-a-kind opportunities, our young people develop the knowledge and values to thrive in a globalised future.
Our renowned curricula (which include the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme), eye-opening global experiences, and core values combine to create a truly global education.
Our curriculum is fully international. It inspires our learners to explore different fields of study, follow their academic passions, and become well-rounded global citizens.
From Preschool through to the age of 16, our students follow a personalised pathway underpinned by the International Early Years Curriculum, International Primary Curriculum, and International Middle Years Curriculum. In Upper Secondary, they then choose to study either the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma, which opens doors to top Dutch and international universities, or one of two NAISR High School Diplomas.
All our curriculum programmes push our students to excel academically and personally. They’re also designed to create principled and independent global citizens ready to shape the future.
Studying at Nord Anglia International School Rotterdam introduces our students to people and perspectives from around the world.
Our children learn alongside peers and teachers from different cultural backgrounds, which develops their understanding and appreciation of other traditions, beliefs, and customs. This fosters open-mindedness and adaptability, crucial traits for future success.
By learning to navigate cultural differences from a young age, students also become more effective communicators and collaborators, particularly in multicultural environments.
Our values are at the heart of the global education we provide.
Our Core Values Programme (CVP) and Values, Inquiry, and Perspectives learning approach – both of which are embedded into every student’s day – create a strong sense of community, encourage personal responsibility, and develop a strong moral compass.
In everything they do, we encourage our students to act with integrity, to be considerate, and to learn the skills they need to thrive as individuals, family members, and part of society.
We work hard to develop our students’ sense of international awareness. Our IB Diploma Programme, for example, is a prestigious global educational curriculum, which is purposely designed to nurture global citizenship and broaden perspectives.
We also organise school trips, like our arts and culture residential in Venice, and collaborate closely with others across the Nord Anglia Education family of international schools. These experiences connect our students to new people, cultures, and opportunities.
Our collaboration with UNICEF, meanwhile, sees students explore issues like climate change and social justice. And through our Model United Nations programme, learners research, debate, and propose solutions to pressing global challenges. This develops the leaders and change-makers of tomorrow.
Both in and beyond our curriculum, we cultivate an environment that values enquiry, creativity, and problem-solving. We encourage students to explore their interests, take charge of their learning, and engage in independent research.
We challenge students to think beyond the textbook, too. Learners ask questions, seek new information, and challenge assumptions. This approach fosters intellectual curiosity and a lifelong love of learning, essential both for success at university and in an ever-evolving global landscape.
Collaboration happens everywhere at our international school, including through group projects, at after-school activities, and through international experiences, like sports competitions and activities on our Global Campus digital learning platform.
These experiences are a great way for learners to hone the attributes they need for degree courses and global careers, where teamwork and the ability to work across cultures are essential.
The international school education we offer is designed with a global future in mind.
We cultivate a challenging and diverse academic environment, support intellectual and personal growth, and nurture global citizenship. We also make sure every child follows a personalised pathway, built around their needs and aspirations.
This ensures every student is not only academically prepared, but also equipped with the values, perspectives, and lifelong skills to realise their international ambitions.
