Year 6 graduation was celebrated on Thursday at a beautiful outdoor venue close to the school. It was a time for parents and staff to feel proud of our students as we enjoyed their musical performance and reflections on their time at NAS Jakarta. Year 6 students shared their memories and feelings in speeches that were both honest and moving.

In the words of some of our students:

"I still remember the first time I heard about moving to Jakarta. I was worried about leaving my school and going to a new one, but when I came to NAS, I quickly realised that I never should have worried. I had so many fantastic learning experiences in NAS: like when I learnt how to make a website in Year 5, or when I learnt about refugees in Year 6.

I had never had learning portrayed in such an amusing way, nor had I ever had so much fun doing school. NAS has really brought the best out of me, and has prepared me for my future."   (Ananias)

"I have been at NAS Jakarta for two and a half years and have always enjoyed it. I would like to give special thanks to all the teachers, my parents, and friends for helping me overcome difficulties and make great achievements at primary school.

NAS helped me to improve all my academic skills, especially in English. In addition, I enjoyed all the subjects and topics we have learnt, such as STEAM and English. I also liked learning about the world, people, and evolution.

As I move to secondary school, I will miss all the teachers and friends who taught me and spent time with me. However, I wish to be a brave and clever secondary school student as I move on. Thank you, everyone." (Jaden)

"Mistakes are not failures, they’re learning opportunities: something that they taught us in school. It means that with everything that we do, even mistakes, we have an opportunity to learn. We can’t rewind the past, or zoom forward into the future, but we should never regret our mistakes, or wish to fast forward through the darkest times, because there is always a thing to be learnt.

I will miss all my friends and teachers, but I would like to say one more thing. Thank you, for helping me grow and accept changes in life. And last but not least, a thank you to my parents who are the reason I am here in the first place. " (Isabelle)

"In the past 3 years I learnt how to be kind to others and make friends from all walks of life.

I am very excited to start secondary school because I will meet new people and learn even more but because I will be leaving all my friends and teachers, I am very sad but my time at NAS has prepared me for the future." (Vera)

Year 6 Graduation_51

"I have really enjoyed my time at NAS where I learned a lot. I really hope my new school is just as amazing as NAS. I will never forget all the beautiful things I learnt at NAS and all the friends and people I met in school, but I think it is time to go to a new school as NAS has given me everything I need to be prepared for the future.

I want to thank my friends for supporting me and helping me bounce back from mistakes, which I learnt are actually learning opportunities. Also, a special thanks to my teachers for teaching me the English language and all the other amazing subjects I learnt here.

Thank you to my parents as well for helping me in Indonesia and for sending me to this amazing school." (Ysbrand)
