Held every year on 21 February, International Mother Language Day is observed worldwide - including here at Northbridge International School Cambodia - to promote linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism. The theme for this year is “Multilingual education is a pillar of intergenerational learning.”

After many months of research, analysis, input from teachers, teaching assistants, students and parents, we are excited to announce that we have officially launched our new maths curriculum in the Primary section of Northbridge International School Cambodia.

At Northbridge International School Cambodia, we recognise that lessons learned outside of the classroom are just as vital as the learning that takes place inside, with field trips to destinations around Phnom Penh held throughout the year, as well as special annual Action Learning Camps, known as ALCs.

The PYP Exhibition is a culminating project in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP) for students in Grade 5 at Northbridge International School Cambodia. It provides an opportunity for students to put into practice the essential elements of the PYP and demonstrate their understanding of the key concepts, trans-disciplinary skills, and attitudes they have developed throughout their Primary years.

Learning environments play a crucial role in the education of Early Learning students at Northbridge International School Cambodia. These environments can be considered as a third teacher, alongside the actual teachers and the students themselves.

Northbridge International School Cambodia has embraced a program in Early Learning to Grade Two that focuses on those first steps to reading – unlocking the phonetic code to the English language. Teachers and Teaching Assistants in Early Learning 4 , KG, Grade One and Grade Two are working with students every day for up to 30 minutes to develop student’s decoding skills. These skills are foundational to the reading process.

As the Head of Primary at Northbridge International School Cambodia, I am excited to reflect on this terms implementation and share with you the benefits of our Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) in education.

Here at Northbridge International School Cambodia, we have the privilege of having an amazing 25 meter undercover swimming pool on campus. The school swim program is embedded in our curriculum from EL2 to Grade 10.

At Northbridge International School Cambodia, we use digital learning apps as a vehicle for student inquiry, and carefully curate which digital platforms are used in classrooms to enhance learning.

Portraiture, or the art of creating portraits, has been around for at least 5000 years – dating back to ancient Egypt. Since then, artists from every culture and background have created a wide variety of portraits, using every imaginable medium – from simple pencil sketches, to paints, to sand, to recycled plastics and everything in between. All of which we explore at Northbridge International School Cambodia.

As parents at Northbridge International School Cambodia, you play a crucial role in nurturing your children's academic growth. When it comes to mathematics, your involvement can significantly impact their confidence and success in this subject.

We all want our children to be happy and successful as they begin their education journey in Early Years at Northbridge International School Cambodia. The best way to achieve this is to foster and support our children’s independence skills both in the classroom and at home.

It is with great pleasure that I can share with our Northbridge International School Cambodia community about an organization and initiative that is close to my heart as an educator. It is my firm belief that the students of today will become the agents of change to create and foster a better world for all.

When people think about leadership, what often comes to mind are the concepts of power, decision making, delegating and innovation. Seldom does one think about care, empathy, kindness, and generosity – however these traits that highlight the emotional skills for successful and effective leadership, including by students at Northbridge International School Cambodia, are just as important.
