New Student Orientation Guide

We are delighted to welcome you and your family as you join our community here at the British International School Shanghai, Puxi. Please find below some important information that will help guide you through starting at our school.

Orientation Day

School Uniform

Primary & Secondary School Uniform

The Uniform Shop, which is located in the Primary School, is normally open from Monday to Friday (except public holidays), from 9.00am to 4.00pm but is currently closed due to COVID-19. Buying uniform before the orientation day is highly recommended. Please order your uniform online by clicking on the link below:

However, if you are unable to purchase your uniform online, we will hold a limited stock of items which you can collect from the Sports Hall in the Primary School, on the Orientation Days.

Security ID Cards

Our School Security policy aims to ensure the health and safety of our students and staff at all times. As part of our commitment to keeping your child safe, we require all parents to carry a photo ID security card. We request that parents complete and submit the form here

Our Primary Schools use SeeSaw to communicate with students and parents. Seesaw for Schools is a digital app-based platform that allows students, teachers, and parents or guardians to complete and share classroom work. Students will be automatically enrolled in SeeSaw at the start of the school year and Year 5 and 6 students will receive an iPad on which they will install the SeeSaw app. Parents should follow the steps below to download the SeeSaw Family app.

  1. For the best experience, bookmark and use app.seesaw.me on your desktop or laptop computer (including Chromebooks).

  2. Download 'Seesaw Family' from the App Store or Google Play Store. Don’t have a smartphone? Sign up on a computer at app.seesaw.me.

  3. Tap 'Create Family Account' and scan the QR code on the handout that you will receive on Orientation Day. Make sure it says your child's name at the top.

  4. Create your account to see your child's journal! Make sure to allow notifications to get real-time updates about new posts.

School Buses

If you would like to reserve a seat for your son or daughter on one of our school buses, please contact us on 5226 3211 ext. 1618, as early as possible. We will need to know your local contact details in Shanghai as soon as you know them (such as detailed address, home number and local mobile etc.) Our school bus monitor will phone you to discuss pick-up and drop-off points before the start of term.

School Website

We maintain an up to date, lively and interesting website. It can be found at www.bisspuxi.com. It actually runs from four different servers in different parts of the world, so anyone can get it quickly and easily in Europe, the US and other parts of the world. We hope parents will introduce family and friends to it, so that can get a flavour of what our students are doing. We also encourage parents to use it as a source of information.

How do I sign my child up for after-school ECA activities?

We want to provide all our students with the chance to extend their learning beyond the classroom with a wide range of after-school activities. The full brochure and online registration for Term 1 2021 will be available on our school website from 23 August. Download 'Schoolsbuddy' from the App Store or Google Play.

When can I purchase a lunch card?

School lunch cards can be purchased in our Dining Hall on Orientation Day. Pupils are allocated a smart card and parents are asked to credit the card at the start of the term; a minimum start up balance of 500RMB is required.

How do I subscribe to the school newsletter?

You will be automatically subscribed to our newsletter. We use this to send you information about events and activities during the school year. You will also receive important information from the Principal and Heads of School. Visit our website for the latest news.
