There have also been different kinds of assessment going on in classes to help the teachers, and the children themselves, reflect on their learning this term and across the year. This process and the information gathered is invaluable in allowing us to recognise and celebrate the progress each child has made but also identify next steps to share with future teachers. On Wednesday 24 June all children will be issued with their End of Year Report which will highlight your child’s achievements this year. The children have worked hard and we are confident that you will be pleased with the progress they have made, but also will welcome the suggestions for how children can build on their successes as they move up into new year groups after the summer break. Please be aware that we are not able to issue reports before this date. If you have a problem with this issue date, please contact Echo Li ec-li@bissopuxi.com and we will make appropriate arrangements to forward these to you.
We are also working hard to prepare for the start of the new school year, including finalising class groups and teacher allocations. As with last year, students will generally move up with their current classmates to ensure valuable stability and coherence in their friendships and learning partnerships. We consider this very important in an ever changing school dynamic where children often have to say goodbye to friends and classmates. This model also allows us to carefully consider the allocation of teachers to classes as we want to ensure that children experience different styles of teaching and learn to work with different teacher approaches. However, we take great care and time to consider each class and year group to ensure that the classes are balanced in respect of gender, nationalities, abilities, friendships and where appropriate, we may make changes for individual or small groups of students.
In several year groups we are expanding to add an additional class to respond to increased student numbers and so this requires us to carefully reassign students into new classes. Class lists will be shared with students and parents early next week and I would be happy to meet individually with any parents who have concerns or questions about their child’s placement. I do however ask for your understanding that all our decisions are taken with the best interests of all the children at their core and that of course with such a large student body in BISS Puxi Primary, we cannot always meet every individual request.
There will also be lots of celebration in the coming weeks with our Year 6 Graduation taking place next Thursday and lots of exciting class parties being organised by our wonderful parents. So lots of learning continues, lots of celebrating to come and lots of happy children every day.
