Children in our 3-6 summer school have had an action packed week in the Pirate area. Everyone has been making new friends and exploring the school and the playground. The week has been spent getting to know each other and our teachers, learning lots of new and exciting words, songs and making lovely things for our classrooms.
In secondary, the children have got straight into enjoying great lessons and they are all super focused on their learning. For the first time this year, the standard of English has been so high that we have run advanced English classes for the 7-12 age range. It was great to see them immersing themselves in the Jeremy Strong novel, The Hundred-Mile An-Hour Dog.
In the afternoons, there has been Swimming, Basketball, Art, Zumba, and lots of other activities that everyone has been looking forward to. I have to say that the Zumba has been one of my highlights so far in this first week, with the children dancing enthusiastically to the music.
It's been an extremely successful week and some students are enjoying the course so much that they have extended their stay with us!
I'm happy to report that everyone is now looking forward to week 2!
